How to join the Choir2000 chat list
There are two steps involved in joining the Choir2000 chat list:
- Create a Google account, if you don't already have one
- Join the chat list
You only have to do these steps once. After that, using the list is
easy: send an email to "choir2000@googlegroups.com", and your message
will be received by everyone else who has joined the list.
The instructions on this page show you how to do step 1. If you already
have a Google account (perhaps because your e-mail address ends
in @googlemail.com or @gmail.com), you can sign in and go
straight to step 2.
Stage 1: creating a Google account
Go to http://www.google.co.uk.

The page should have the words "Sign in" on the top right, as in this
picture. If the page that you get looks very different from this
example, don't
worry. Just carry on....
Click on the words "Sign in". This will take you to a page that looks
like this:
Click on the words "Create an account now", which will take you to a
page like this:
Fill in your e-mail address and choose a password. (If in the future
you forget your
password, you can have instructions e-mailed to you to help you to
reset it. This is available through the link on the sign-in page that
says: "I cannot access my account".)
The "Web History" feature is controversial,
since it stores information on Google's computers about which pages you
visit while signed in. If you are concerned about internet privacy, you
may like to unselect this feature. Doing this won't have any effect on
your use of Choir2000's chat list.
Enter the text that you see under "Word Verification". If you find it
hard to read, click the "Reload" or "Refresh" button, and the system
will change it to another one. You can do this several times until you
get one which is clearer, like this:
Click on the button which says "I accept. Create my account." This will
take you to a page that looks like this:
Now you need to check your e-mail. You should receive a message that
says that the account has been set up, and contains a link to click on
to activate it. (This message normally arrives almost immediately, but
sometimes may take a few minutes.) Once you have done this, you will
have finished creating the Google account:

signing up for the Choir 2000 chat list.
